Waterford Division 1 Champions 2005/06 |
There was double success for the Club’s division one
and three men’s doubles teams in the Waterford league. The division one side
had a 3-0 semi-final victory over defending champions Lismore and followed this
up with an impressive 4-0 victory in the final against Ballymacarbry. It was
the first ever title for the club in the grade. Team: Colm Byrne, Pat Lynch,
Ralph Stone and Alan Carton.
The division three side needed a draw in their final game at home to 2nd
place Gold Coast to secure the division three title. The New Ross side
maintained their unbeaten record by winning 4-0 and in the process secured the
club’s first title in the grade. New Ross team: Chris McMackin, John Nolan, Pat
Furlong and Andrew Wayland.
The
New Ross division one mixed doubles team finished top of the Waterford mixed
doubles league, but are still not sure if they are the 2006 champions.
They were due to travel to Ballyneill in West Waterford to play in the league
final against Lady Lane on the 12th April, but chaos ensued in the Waterford
setup with the resignation of the League Coordinator and Lady Lane unwilling to
play the final on the designated night. Team: Ralph Stone,
Alan Carton, Pat Lynch, Ellen O’Neill, Rosemary Burke and Brideen Lynch.
